The position requires the candidate to have full capability to independently audit the AUAF’s financial and procurement systems and provide independent and objective assurance by evaluating the internal controls, risk management, and governance process.
The Assistant to Head of Internal Audit’s duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Prepares audit programs and design audit checklists and working papers when required;
Conducts internal audits to test the adequacy of the internal controls and compliance with the AUAF’s policies and procedures;
Assists in the completion of special audit requests and drafting the audit reports directed by the head of internal audit;
Performs follow-up audit of the agreed audit recommendations and prepares the audit report;
Conducts risk-based audits and process audits to evaluate the effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records and efficiency of operations;
Arrange, organize and file properly all audited documents;
Prepares draft reports, collects documents, files and provides general administrative support where necessary;
Determines the level of compliance with AUAF policies and procedures, laws and regulations and participates in process and internal control improvement initiatives;
To be able and willing to travel to organization’s area of operations;
Carries out any other related tasks assigned by the Head of Internal Audit;

The position requires the incumbent to reside in Afghanistan
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a recognized University or similar credentials is required
Minimum of three years of experience working as an Internal Auditor is required
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office applications is required
Excellent spoken and written command of English, Pashto, and Dari is required
Ability to work under pressure and tight time frames with long hours is required
CIA, CISA, CFE certification or similar certification (substantial progress toward certification may be considered as an alternative) is preferred
Familiarity with USAID regulations is preferred
Experience working as an Auditor in any major audit firms
