Job Summary

The Association Specialist (AS) is responsible for implementing the elements of the association development component in the Central Region. The AS will play a leading role in the identification of technical assistance to be provided by the component. He/she will assist the business associations to develop a business enabling environment for SMEs in the Central Region. The AS is also responsible for introducing the best practices to the Afghan Business Associations and guide the training activities to strengthen the associations. The AS is charged with implementing the core activities under the direction and supervision of the Regional Manager and the Component leader in Kabul. He/she will work to ensure that the task operates according to plan and that problems and progress are reported to the Regional Manager on a regular basis so that corrective action can be taken. He/she will closely monitor progress toward and be responsible for accomplishment of work plan activities and USAID performance measurement indicators

Duties & Responsibilities

The Association Specialist is responsible for implementing various activities, to include, but not limited to, the following:
• Take a lead role in identifying business association to be assisted by ASMED in the Central Region
• Identify and provide the technical assistance to be needed to strengthen the respective business associations
• Assist business associations and chambers in organizing various activities like seminars, workshops, training programs and participation in trade fairs
• Work closely with the business associations in the Central Region to accomplish the objectives set by the business association component.
• Assist Business Development component in establishing business development services center in business association/chamber to enable Afghan SMEs to have access to information and business services.
• Assist business associations in developing grant application within the scope of ASMED
• Work with the identified business associations to make them sustainable by way of membership development, training programs and other activities

Job Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Commerce or related subjects
• At lease 3 years experience in private sector activities
• Fluent in Dari and English, (additional language Pashtoon preffered)
• Able to manage a portfolio of projects
• Knowledge of financial analysis, business plan, private sector related activities.
