Duties & Responsibilities

The Auto Body Repairer and Refinisher focuses on vehicle body work – repairing the surfaces, contours, and paint of damaged vehicles. This position works in the maintenance shop and reports to the Mechanic Foreman.

Job Requirements

Applicants must address required qualifications criteria listed below with specific information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.

1. EDUCATION: High school education is required.
2. EXPERIENCE: Minimum three years of maintenance work focused on body work and paint.

Substitution Option:
Education: Secondary school education is required.
Experience: Minimum six years of maintenance work focused on body work and paint.

1. LANGUAGE: Dari – IV (Fluent). English – Able to speak and read at a basic level.

4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: This position will work in the maintenance shop. Unlike the other mechanics, this position will focus on vehicle body work – repairing the surfaces, contours, and paint of the vehicle rather than the operational systems. In doing so, the position will: Examine damaged vehicles to determine repairs needed. Remove and replace parts to gain access and complete repairs. Prepare vehicle surfaces for damage repair. Driver’s license is required. Ability to lift 30 pounds.

5. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Use of equipment and supplies geared toward vehicle body maintenance and vehicle paint. Use body filler, glazing compounds, and primers to prepare surfaces for painting.
File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces for painting. Apply refinishing products in the correct sequence for proper adhesion and durability. Refinish repaired surfaces. Ability to color match, priming, mixing paint and top coats for vehicles. Paint surfaces after performing body repairs. Inspect painted surfaces for quality and color match.
