Job Summary:

SUMMARY OF KEY FUNCTIONS

·        Work closely with LAMP management and technical teams to conduct Business and Market Research, Market Analysis and Business Opportunities Identification for project interventions and its beneficiaries. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual business and marketing action plans for LAMP.

·        Formulate economic empowerment activities for project beneficiaries through creating and mainstreaming businesses and enterprises.

·        Work closely with external partners including Private Sector, Micro-Finance Institutions and others to identify sources and opportunities for business and marketing of LAMP agriculture and non-agriculture interventions.

·        Formulate demand driven business development and marketing manuals and guidelines for project beneficiaries.

·        Initiate and lead training, awareness raising and capacity building activities to project participants and beneficiaries.

·        Assist project beneficiaries in recognizing profitable MSME startup opportunities suitable for them, undertake initiatives and provide technical support for expansion and development of launched MSMEs including agricultural, life stock and non-agricultural enterprises.  

·        Provide technical support to agriculture and life stock advisors in facilitating creation and development of strong agriculture and life stock related producer groups (PGs) for project beneficiaries.

·        Develop and support the implementation of business and marketing strategies to support the transformation of targeted producers, farmers and farmer-members of farmers’ organizations from non-commercial into semi-commercial farmers to create employment opportunities. Conduct similar activities for non-agriculture interventions such as vocational trainings.

·        In close coordination with DCOP, Livelihood Advisor, and other technical members, conduct Job-Fair, Trade- Fair and Employment Engagement Events;

·        Conduct assessments on job placement available in targeted area and neighborhood places in marketplace. Design Corporate Strategy and Diversification to support entrepreneurs along value chain to tap into these markets with regular review for all time.

·        Identify opportunities for project beneficiaries who aim to start their own businesses, agriculture and life stock related MSME owners and other producers to realize economies of scale by combining the efforts in production, handling, and delivery of products.

KEY RELATIONS


Internal: Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party, Field Supervisors, Business Development Officers, Provincial Managers, Livelihood and Agricultural Advisors and other relevant staff members of the project and CARE.

External: Government relevant counterparts, Microfinance Associations, Private Sectors, Project’s Stakeholders, target communities and business institutions.

Duties & Responsibilities:

KEY RESULT EXPECTED

·        Develop business case and modules for Marketing Training for Vocational and Life Skill Trainings.

·        Maintain professional relationships with team members, promote a strong spirit amongst the team and provide oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their roles.

·        Establish relationships with different stakeholders within and outside of the identified value chains to improve the operations of businesses and performance of entrepreneurs.

·        Provide technical guidance on Business and Market Policies, Guidelines and Quality Programming during the consultations and partnerships engagements with government bodies and other stakeholders. Consultations will be with Ministry of Labor Social Affairs/ Directorate General of Skills Development (MoLSA/DGSD), Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVET-A), Ministry of Economy, Afghanistan Microfinance Association (AMA), Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI), Federation of Afghanistan Craftsmen and Traders (FACT), Private Enterprises, NGOs, Youth Groups, and Potential Employers in the Public and Private sectors or NGOs.

·        Target and support youths for identified business and market training and access relevant apprenticeship opportunities (through host enterprises) and possible internship or attachment in relevant government departments, civil society organizations and formal and informal private sectors.

·        Make regular visit, monitor field and ensure planned activities are running well.

·        Undertake other duties and responsibilities given by the LAMP Management.

Qualifications:

Excellent planning, conceptual, entrepreneurship, organizing, analytical, networking and negotiation skills, problem-solving, decision-making and delegation skills. Strong leadership, good verbal and written communication skills in English, Dari and Pashtu, capacity to adapt to a changing environment and working under tight deadlines.

4.         Skills and Experience:

5.        Education:

At least Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Development, Social Science, Development Studies and other relevant fields. Master degree in relevant fields is preferred.

6.        Work Experience:

3-4 years relevant work experience.

Fluency in written and spoken English, Dari and Pushto languages
