Job Summary:

The purpose of the position will be to provide a dynamic and creative team support to ensure Afghanistan Holding Group achieves its vision, mission, aims and objectives. The Business Development (BD) Manager is responsible for managing the overall business development activities and growing the business interests of AHG. In particular, the Manager assists in provision of direct technical support in identification and acquisition of new business opportunities that will help grow the company’s current areas of activity and assisting in expanding its activities in areas t identified by Senior Management.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities and accountabilities of the BD Manager are outlined as follows:

Strategic

  • Manage work-plans for responding to RFPs/EOIs, RFIs, and CNs.
  • Assist in identifying available personnel and resources within AHG to carryout the project/task successfully.
  • Add value to AHG by contributing to the strategic decision-making of AHG by providing new perspectives and examining alternative strategies.
  • Assist in development and promotion of a climate for professional, technical and business growth.
  • Provide creative and dynamic assistance to business development team.
  • Strategically “position” and “promote” AHG in Afghanistan in order to build and maintain its credibility with Government, the donor community, private sector companies and other key stakeholders.
  • Act as a key spokesperson for AHG.
  • Ensure monitoring of AHG’s plans and actual initiatives, and ensuring that those are synchronised with AHG mission and objectives.

Operational:

  • Manage all Business Development related posts on Trello including but not limited to adding new opportunities to the Leads column, adding Bid/No Bid checklist, review the RFPs/EOIs/RFIs and CNs against the Bid/No Bid checklist, outlining the RFP/EOIs/RFIs and CNs requirements, set deadlines for Technical and Financial proposals, tag relevant personnel responsible for drafting the proposals, and follow up with all responsible personnel on tasks.
  • Manage the overall preparation and writing of the outlines for RFPs/EOIs/RFIs/CNs process for BD team.
  • Manage and monitor the process of proposal packaging and submission, and receipt confirmations.
  • Manage the creation of checklist of all the requirements for RFPs/EOIs/RFIs/CNs on Trello.
  • Manage the duly completion and compilation of all RFP/EOI supplementary forms.
  • Attend Pre-RFP conferences and take minutes when called.
  • Attend Client meetings and take comprehensive notes, post notes on Trello and tag meeting participants
  • Attend RFP conferences with Director, CEO, Chairman, whenever feasible.
  • Manage, monitor, update, and track all new opportunity postings on Business Development board on Trello
  • Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Professional Conduct:

  • Comply with personal legal liabilities and fiduciary requirements of diligence and care in carrying out the duties of AHG.
  • Act honestly in all the affairs of AHG and avoid conflict of interest and, should this arise, it must be declared.

Education

  • Tertiary qualifications in a field of relevance with postgraduate qualifications is required.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated high-level experience in creating an enabling environment to facilitate private sector investment.
  • Demonstrated high-level leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated high-level experience in development and implementation of strategic plans.
  • Demonstrated high-level breadth of experience in financial, people and operational management.
  • Demonstrated high-level experience in developing and maintaining effective work relationships.
  • Demonstrated high-level experience in writing proposals, concept notes, and business plans.  
  • Knowledge:
  • Demonstrated understanding of legislation and regulations that facilitate business, trade, investment and job creation in Afghanistan.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of support infrastructure required for private sector investment.
  • Proven knowledge of budgeting and financial management to support investment strategies.
  • A working knowledge of principles and practices for good corporate governance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the social, political and economic environment in Afghanistan.
