Social and Educational services Organization (SESO) is an independent, non-profit organization that aims to empower Afghan society by offering social and educational services, especially to marginalized and under-represented populations.

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Center Manager, the Career Adviser will provide individual and group career counseling services to assist students in identifying career options, build resumes, identify skills gaps, advise on where to search for jobs, and help with the application process. The Career Adviser is also responsible for developing and delivering career workshops and events in Kabul and provinces.


Duties & Responsibilities

·      Provide individual and group career counseling services to assist students in identifying career options, build resumes, identify skills gaps, advise on where to search for jobs and help with the application process;

·      Provide information, advice, and guidance to help students, especially alumni of U.S. Government exchange programs to make realistic choices about education, training and work;

·      Assist youth and alumni of U.S. Government exchange programs to make action plans for employment, training and support them to achieve their career goals;

·      Plan and organize job fairs and career events in Kabul and provinces;

·      Understand the current job market by maintaining a close relationship with major employers, Government entities, and professional bodies;

·      Develop capacity building and soft skills development workshops;

·      Maintain and update career resources;

·      Create active promotion and marketing strategies/materials to promote career services and the center;

·      Develop a database of alumni and HR contacts at various organizations including international and Afghan government agencies, NGOs, and private sector companies in Afghanistan;

·      Travel to provinces regularly to conduct career development workshops and training;

·      Instruct English Language skills-development training and courses;

·      Plan, develop, and execute activities, sessions, workshop, and seminars independently as described in the job description or assigned by the supervisor;

·      Create and maintain strategic and collaborative partnerships with educational institutions, government entities and any other organization with the shared goals of the organization;

·      Provide weekly reports along with photos for sessions organized and activities done;

·      Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor;

Job Requirements

·      At least three years of experience in the fields of career counseling, student services, HR management, education, administration or another relevant field is required;

·      University degree in a related field (human resources, education or business administration) is required;

·      The candidates shall have worked in a similar capacity for universities, government organizations, NGOs or international organizations;

·      Ability to communicate effectively in public;

·      Ability to work independently and follow-through on assigned tasks;

·      Ability to develop and deliver informational materials to promote center use;

·      Solid commitment to customer services;

·      A sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook);

·      The candidate must be fluent in both spoken and written English and Dari/Pashto;
