About Save the Children

Job Summary

a) Support the capacity development of the Save the Children Child Protection Team and equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to conduct strategic research.

b) Develop a policy document based on key findings from the street patrol project surveys and grant implementation

Duties & Responsibilities

Consultancy Deliverables
1. The consultant will develop a training plan and training manual for the Child Protection team and Street Patrol project staff. The documents will address best research practices and how to analyze and prioritize children's concerns.
2. The consultant will deliver a street Working Children policy document (electronic and hard copies) which will be informed by existing documents, field visits and close collaboration with project staff.

Activities - Capacity Building:
• Provide effective and regular technical support to the project staff for delivery of the project activities and maximize project impact
• Assist the project manager to produce quality reports
• Provide training on how to conduct high quality project related research
• Provide training on how to conduct situation analyses and prioritize key concerns
• Provide training to the teams on how to identify key areas of intervention for street and working children

Activities - Policy Development:
• Communication and information gathering with the relevant government ministries, child protection organizations, the Child Protection Action Network and other key stakeholders
• Highlight some of the key issues of working and street children in Kabul in the policy document
• Carry out field visits and organize focus groups to feed into the policy
• Review existing documents such as surveys and case documents, to feed into policy development

Job Requirements

Person Specification:
• Excellent English language skills
• 5 years of child protection experience
• First hand knowledge of working and street children
• Proven training experience
• Solid experience of conducting strategic research and policy development
• International work experience in war affected countries with marginalised children
