PURPOSE OF POSITION
Design, implementation and management of the CME project in Ghor Province, including planning, documentation, evaluation, research, and training. To liaise with appropriate government entities to ensure that World Vision’s health programs meet the needs of the neediest communities efficiently and adequately.
He/she plays a vital role in planning, monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the midwifery program and documents the process to ensure institutionalization of basic education among midwives to respond to the need for skilled health care providers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
• Coordination and implementation of the Community Midwifery Education project by facilitating administrative support.
• Control and manage teaching and training materials to the CME project and needed medical supplies including drugs and equipment to affiliated clinical training sites.
• Participates in capacity building programs to enhance knowledge and skills and effectively improve implementation of Community Midwifery Education.
• Assists in the development of assessment/evaluation tools for teaching performance and skills competency of students.
• Actively participates in the monitoring and assessment of teaching competency among the teaching and clinical staff under the CME Project.
• Regular monitoring of student competency
• Establishes and maintains networking at a satisfactory level with other stakeholders for midwifery training
• Coordinates with MOH-PHC and other NGOs for the post graduate deployment of midwives in local MOH facilities.
• Conduct of refresher trainings for midwives in health facilities supported by WVI.
• Preparation of technical reports, semestral and annual reports.
• Facilitate activation of the health workforce planning approach and together with PHDs and BPHS and EPHS implementing NGOs develop a rational recruitment, deployment and integration of graduate midwives.
• Together with reproductive health, and HCP establish a supportive supervision network for monitoring deployed midwives at their duty.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The following knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience, or on-the-job training.
Requires a degree in Midwifery or Nursing and postgraduate course or academic units with at least three years of experience in midwifery or related field in Afghanistan. Updated on current issues relative to midwifery and reproductive health. Must be sensitive to local culture and be knowledgeable of context and needs of the Afghan population. Requires emotional maturity, ability to work independently and a good team player.
Critical knowledge Skills and Abilities:
 Strong capacity building and facilitation skills.
 Knowledge of MS Office and statistical programs
 Ability to work in a team environment
 Strong skills in oral and written English, Farsi and Pashtu.
 Ability to take on a supervisory role of staff.
 Strong organizational and management skills.
