Duties & Responsibilities:
•Develop a clear and coherent communication strategy and ensure all marketing (conferences, seminars, networks etc) and communication media (TV, radio, internet, websites, press releases, publications etc) are aligned to it.
•Undertake internal and external communication initiatives such as writing copy, preparing and delivering communication briefs, following-up communication enquiries and other related issues and investigating public relations matters.
•Develop and implement policies, procedures and protocols for managing all communication matters so that CARD-F management can maximize public relations opportunities, and be protected if issues arise which threaten the reputation of the organization.
•Collect data on communication and PR activity so that CARD-F can respond quickly and shape public or donor opinion about the organization and its successes
•Develop cooperative and collaborative networks with media houses, television and radio stations, printed press and other sources so that CARD-F is able to present positive messages about the work it is doing.
•Develop and implement initiatives, campaigns and programmes for promoting positive staff attitudes in order to build loyalty, improve retention and increase productivity.
•Devise and conduct regular stakeholder satisfaction surveys and implement initiatives to improve service levels where they are needed
Job Requirement:
• Bachelor’s Degree in any field, ideally in journalism, communications or other media
• 3 - 5 years experience in journalism, communications or other media in Afghanistan
• Good knowledge of:
o media landscape of Afghanistan
o radio, TV and print media
o the importance and comfort with Afghanistan’s culture of face-to-face meetings
• Written and spoken fluency in Pashto, Dari and English
• Ability to work hard, meet deadlines
• Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., tact, diplomacy and patience) working in a diverse workforce composed of expatriate and local staff
• Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation in handling all assigned tasks required.
• Willingness to travel throughout Afghanistan to help implement the communications strategy and plan on a district level
Preferred
Candidates may be preferred if they have experience:
• With the media and/or studying media/communications outside of Afghanistan
• Working directly with prominent Afghan media organizations, including with regard to radio
