Duties & Responsibilities

Operates State's SBU Local Area Network (LAN), Internet-only LAN and all other information technology (IT) systems equipment serviced by ISC under the supervision of the Computer Management Specialist. This includes end-user support; installing and configuring computer equipment and software; troubleshooting computer problems; performing system backups and restores; monitoring system availability and performance; end-user training. Ensuring that the LAN responds to specific program needs of State/Program offices.
Incumbent is responsible for keeping operational the different networks and all related components, composed of over 46 servers and 2573 networked devices such as workstations Printers, Switches, digital senders and is responsible for keeping operational the DIN (dedicated internet network) network and all related components for over 150 users. Must support our wireless network customer’s internet connections and our wireless access points.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

VA 17-082 – Full Performance Level:
1. EDUCATION: Two years of college study in a computer field plus one Industry Standard Information Technology certification: Comptia A+, Network+, Microsoft MCP, MCSA, MCSA, CCNA or CCNP is required.

2. EXPERIENCE: 2 years of progressively responsible experience, primarily of systems administration or technical nature where emphasis is place on Help Desk Support.

Substitution Option:
1. EDUCATION: Completion of High School plus one Industry Standard Information Technology certification: Comptia A+, Network+, Microsoft MCP, MCSA, MCSA, CCNA or CCNP is required.

2. EXPERIENCE: 4 years of progressively responsible experience, primarily of systems administration or technical nature where emphasis is place on Help Desk Support.

VA 17-082T – Trainee Level:
1. EDUCATION: Two years of college study in a computer field plus one Industry Standard Information Technology certification: Comptia A+, Network+, Microsoft MCP, MCSA, MCSA, CCNA or CCNP is required.

2. EXPERIENCE: 1 years of progressively responsible experience, primarily of systems administration or technical nature where emphasis is place on Help Desk Support.

3. LANGUAGE: Level III English (good working level) - Level IV Dari is required.

4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to analyze IT problems and follow established procedures and routines. Good interpersonal skills to promote computer and automation services.


5. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must possess a functional knowledge of the IT requirements and information processed by each and every department in the mission. Accurate knowledge of the ISC's operations and software applications. Technical knowledge of standard IT procedures in large-sized LAN operations.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to analyze IT problems and follow established procedures and routines. Good interpersonal skills to promote computer and automation services.
