Conflict Resolution Expert: Afghanistan

ARD Inc. is accepting expressions of interest from qualified senior level candidates for leadership of a USAID funded Land Policy Reform program in Afghanistan. This position will provide long-term technical oversight to the project.

Duties & Responsibilities

POSITION TITLE: CONFLICT RESOLUTION SERVICES IN RURAL COMMUNITIES EXPERT

Position Description:

The Conflict Resolution Service in Rural Communities Expert may be asked to carry out activities such as: (1) managing mobile teams of conflict resolution trainers; (2) supporting an advocacy effort to get courts to recognize customary, community-based tenure and property rights decisions; (3) managing providers of legal services; (5) developing a manual and supporting materials to train community associations in investigating, resolving and documenting tenure and parcel disputes

Proven ability to identify and implement creative and practical approaches to overcome development challenges in a conflict environment.
Fluency in English required (written and spoken); Dari and/or Pashto language skills preferred

Job Requirements

Work Experience:

A minimum of 5 years of experience working with traditional community leaders on dispute resolution in Islamic and post-conflict countries
Supervisory Experience: At least two years of experience managing employees or subcontractors spread across an expansive region and in insecure environments
