PURPOSE OF POSITION
To supervise and attend all works related to Cash for Work projects in Herat Province.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervise foreman and daily laborers on day-to-day basis, building their capacity and providing support to strengthen their skills
• Develop and maintain good relationships and lines of communication with relevant local communities, explaining World Vision Afghanistan role as an NGO and liaising with them during all phases of the project
• Assist the Project manager in the implementation of projects as planned according to developed technical standards, schedules and timelines
• Check the quality and accuracy of every service of construction.
• Develop and maintain efficient information systems about the ongoing construction works, for the Cash for Works with the Site Engineer.
• Prepare weekly reports about the works of the constructions, foresight of supplies; include progress against objectives, obstacles encountered and proposed solutions, and plans for following period.
• Monitor and direct the project activities to meet the project objectives in terms of quality of work and within the agreed timelines.
• Liaise with local authorities in manner that is consistent With Mission and Core Values.
• Take all the necessary measures in order to maintain positive working relationships and a good environment, upholding the rule of safety first in order to prevent accidents.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Site Engineer.
QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS
• At least High school graduate, It would be preferred if the candidate has passed the Construction Engineering Institute or related fields.
• 2-5 years of involvement in development programs including infrastructure rehabilitation and Cash for Work (CFW) projects.
• Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage and prioritize tasks.
• Must have good attention to detail, all work must be checked.
• Knowledge and experience in construction would be regarded.
• A good English communication skill (oral and written) is a preference.
• Fluent in spoken and written Farsi / pushtu.
• Willingness to travel throughout the project area required, with familiarity with the project area preferred. Preference will be given to former or current World Vision Afghanistan employees.
