The Institute of War and Peace Studies (IWPS) is a non-profit think-do-tank based in Kabul with a focus on strategic and defense studies as well as peace and conflict resolution in Afghanistan. IWPS consists of Board of Directors, senior management including prominent national and international security and peace and conflict studies researchers and practitioners. It conducts in-depth and overarching research and advocacy projects through which it aims to influence policies and shape public opinion. IWPS is the leading and first of its kind think-do-tank focusing on issues of war and peace through offering practical and evidence based solutions. It places high emphasis on integrity and high quality research to its clients. We strive to provide the best quality research products that are relevant to war and peace studies in Afghanistan and beyond in an efficient and cost- effective manner with the highest level of integrity.
Responsible to work in the kitchen and offices instead of cook when necessary.
Responsible for food items and preparing lunch for all staff.
Responsible for maintaining the kitchen items properly
Responsible to have a proper record of the kitchen supplies
To maintain an updated lunch menu for staff
To procure food items from market on daily bases
Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, or ladders to prepare facilities for events, such as meetings and training.
Responsible for collecting and washing the dishes
Responsible for checking the supplies tea, sugar etc in the office
Responsible for preparing tea for staff
Helping the cook or to arrange refreshment for training.
Keep all kitchen appliance neat and ready to use at all times.
Prepare tea on regular base preferably twice a day (morning and afternoon)
Notify supervisor concerning the need for major repairs or additions to office building or guest houses
Keep track of all available item and immediately report on lose, break and malfunction of administrative equipment
Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
Perform all other work related duties which is given by her/ his supervisor;
Job Requirements:
High School graduate is preferred
At least 2 years’ Experience working as Cook/Cleaner in a humanitarian context
Knowledge of NGO working environment
Knowledge about support section.
Initiative with cooking/cleaning.
Personal qualities
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Fluency in Dari and Pashto, both written and verbal are required
Some of knowledge of English Language is an advantage.
