Under the direct supervision of Admin, Logistics Officer, the Cook is responsible for the preparation and serving of office lunch and any other required food preparation.
• Ensure a hygienic work area for the preparation and storage of all food stuff, including proper handling of foods, cleaning of utensils, dishes, crockery and appliances.
• Purchase all food and supplies for meals preparation and other items consumed at the office as approved by the Admin, Logistics Officer.
• Obtain required cash advance from project cashier for all food purchases and present proper invoices, bills to account for expenditures as instructed.
• Prepare regular lunch meals 6 days per week, Saturday through Thursday ensuring preparation has been completed for serving by 12:00. Consult with supervisor and staff from time to time on the quality and selection of menu , meals preparation, and presentation; including solicitation of specific dishes desired for meals.
• Wash all dishes, crockery and appliances at the completion of each meal and properly store any remaining food.
• Monitor and maintain continuous supply of mineral drinking water; for water dispensers and in disposable bottles. Advise the Facilities or Office Manager when supply is low and the need for replenishment.
• Maintain adequate supply of coffee, tea, sugar, powdered milk, and non-dairy creamer by advising the Admin, Logistics Officer when supplies need to be replenished. Ensure the items are readily available at all times for staff consumption as desired.
• Maintain the kitchen cleanliness and hygienic environment at all times; ensuring rubbish, garbage bin is emptied at the end of each in by proper disposal.
• Advise appropriate administrative support staff of all repairs, maintenance required for kitchen, equipment, and appliances, and any items needed for cleaning and maintaining food preparation and service areas.
• Undertake other food service, staff meal preparation tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
EDUCATION: Primary education.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in preparing and cooking food for offices and large number of staff in demanding work environment.
SKILLS: Ability to prepare various types of Afghan and non-afghan food.
LANGUAGES: Dari and Pashto. English proficiency will be an advantage
