Job Summary

The assistant will work together with the coordinator and midwives to facilitate the proper implementation and monitoring of the project and provide medical counseling to the midwives. Additionally she will maintain a communication and support network at community level and do Home visit.

Duties & Responsibilities

Main responsibilities:

• To reduced the high maternal mortality in the most venerable areas of Kandahar, by providing specific outreach services (Home Visiting) program in the field of maternal and child health care.
• Closely supervised and monitor the work of midwives in community (Home Visiting) by doing home visit in Tdh program areas.
• Help midwives and health worker in preparing of monthly statistic according to midwives register book.
• Support and advice midwives/health worker when thy face difficulties in perform their professional duties during Home Visit.
• Participation in the weekly continues education meeting of MCH-Home Visiting program.
• Strengthen information, education and behavior change, communication for family planning, vaccination, and Reproductive Health issue.
• Create an enable environment for the utilizing of Clinics and Hospital by the strengthening referral system from community to the Clinics and hospital.
• Organized files and documents related to the project. Maintain and organized the entire project file in a systematic way.
• Coordinator assistant is responsible for the drug, store and keeping the stock record for medicine, medical equipment and delivery kits.
• Other duties as assigned by coordinator.

Job Requirements

Education • Graduate medical faculty or midwifery school.
• Competencies in safe motherhood, family planning (Reproductive Health) and behavior change communication in community level.
• MD degree is an advantage.
Experience
• Minimum 2 years experience as medical doctor or midwifery with government or NGO’s.
• Medical or midwifery background
• Experience in guiding a team.
• Work in the field of MCH and Reproductive health or work in OBG/YN ward in hospitals or in MCH clinics is advantage
.
Knowledge, Skills and abilities • Have the ability to work in team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Have the ability to work in the community (do Home Visit) and visit families by home visit.
• Committed to support the mothers and newborn in Tdh program areas.
• Knowledge of office program specially in word and excel.
• Good knowledge of written and spoken Pashto and English.
• Be able to work additional hours whenever required.
