Project/Proposal Summary: The Afghanistan Workforce Development Project (AWDP) is an 18-month, USAID-funded program to provide capacity building assistance to Afghan NGOs and businesses providing public and private sector technical and vocational education and training (TVET). The overarching goal of AWDP is to increase job placements, salaries/wages, and self-employment opportunities for Afghan men and women through the provision of market-driven skills training, business training, and linkages to credit, business development support, and job placement services.

Position Summary:
MSI is seeking a Curriculum Development Advisor to lead design and implementation of the Technical Vocational Education and Training curriculum and business curriculum for AWDP.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
• Lead efforts to identify, design, develop and implement TVET curriculum development to identify potential market driven skills;
• Work closely with governmental and private sector counterparts across Afghanistan to improve business curriculum to identify potential market driven skills;
• Develop innovative ways of strengthening strategic linkages among workforce development public and private players to develop an information and advocacy network;
• Deliver technical assistance to the targeted workforce development in the country;
• Manage, supervise, and provide close guidance and capacity building of AWDP’s curriculum development team in Kabul;
• Play a lead role in mobilizing and managing short-term technical assistants (international consultants).

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
• 10+ years experience in developing specialized curricula, in particular business or workforce development oriented;
• Advanced degree in education, curriculum design, or related subject matter;
• Demonstrated knowledge of workforce development or technical vocational training;
• Experience in developing information and advocacy networks in the public or private sector;
• Ability to travel throughout Afghanistan;
• Written and oral English proficiency required; knowledge of Dari and/or Pashto a plus.
