Duties & Responsibilities

ï‚§ Establishing the needs of users and monitoring user access and security;
ï‚§ Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provide fast query responses to 'front end' users;
 Mapping out the ‘conceptual design’ for a planned database in outline;
ï‚§ Considering both 'back end' organization of data and 'front end' accessibility for end users;
 Refining the ‘logical design’ so that it can be translated into a specific data model;
 Further refining the ‘physical design’ to meet system storage requirements;
ï‚§ installing and testing new versions of the database management system (DBMS, Oracle);
ï‚§ Maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act;
 Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (‘metadata’);
ï‚§ Controlling access permissions and privileges;
ï‚§ Developing, managing and testing backup and recovery plans;
ï‚§ Ensuring that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly;
ï‚§ Capacity planning;
ï‚§ Working closely with IT project managers, database programmers and web developers;
ï‚§ Communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security;
ï‚§ Commissioning and installing new applications.

Job Requirements

Candidate must possess the following requirement for DBA role:
ï‚§ BS in computer science with 2 years working experience as DBA
ï‚§ BS in software engineering with 2 years working experience as DBA;
ï‚§ BS computer engineering with 2 years working experience as DBA.
Candidates will need to show evidence of the following:
ï‚§ communication, teamwork and negotiation skills;
ï‚§ problem-solving and good analytical skills;
ï‚§ familiarity with the main data manipulation languages and the principles of database design;
ï‚§ flexibility and adaptability;
ï‚§ good organizational skills;
ï‚§ ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure;
ï‚§ business awareness and understanding of business requirements of IT;
ï‚§ a willingness to keep up to date with developments in new technology;
ï‚§ a commitment to continuing professional development;
Familiarities with many database technologies and operating systems as possible.
Knowledge of structured query language (SQL,PL/SQL) and database management systems (DBMS).
Completed a database certification programmed such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).Microsoft Certified Database ,Administrator (MCDBA).
