ï‚§ Responsible for supporting the Oracle databases and ensuring their performance, High availability, security and Data guard.
Duties & Responsibilities:
â€¢ Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system.
â€¢ Responsible for monitoring , checking and administering the Oracle RAC and Data guard
â€¢ Work with the team to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability and optimum performance.
â€¢ To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
â€¢ Responsible for providing trend analysis to the service management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management.
â€¢ Responsible for problem escalation to Oracle Development team and third parties as appropriate.
â€¢ Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades.
â€¢ Responsible for implementation and release of database changes as submitted by the development team
â€¢ 24/7 support of production database services to ensure the highest standards of availability, resilience, integrity, security and performance required by our business systems.
â€¢ Respond quickly and effectively to production issues, taking responsibility for seeing those issues through to resolution.
â€¢ Work with Data Center Operations personnel to make sure that all databases and database applications are working properly and are optimized for performance.
â€¢ Resolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, and other distributed data issues.
â€¢ Monitor databases for errors and perform problem determination when necessary.
â€¢ Assist in the definition and implementation of database standards.
â€¢ Monitors all key operational system metrics and provide monthly reporting of those metrics to management.
â€¢ Develop database procedures, triggers and SQL scripts for operational team use.
â€¢ Share knowledge by effectively documenting work
â€¢ Stay current with changes in the technical area of expertise
â€¢ Performance monitoring, reporting, and tuning of Oracle databases.
â€¢ Management and maintenance of back-ups and recovery procedures.
â€¢ Installation and maintenance of database server, replication and client environments.
â€¢ Reviewing and tuning SQL and PL/SQL code.
â€¢ Designing database packages and procedures and Security and access control.
â€¢ Provision of support and assistance to development team in the design, development,
â€¢ testing, tuning and implementation of database application
â€¢ Creation and maintenance of SQL queries and routines
â€¢ Provisioning of (database) development and testing environments.
â€¢ Writing ad-hoc queries based on schema knowledge for various reporting requirements. Writing / Tuning data ingestion procedures from external suppliers and partners using PL/SQL, sql loader, 3 party tools eg. Toad etc.
â€¢ Required to deal with complex data models and object relational database mapping while producing complex reports
â€¢ Proven Oracle Database Administration experience.
â€¢ Experience of managing multiple RDBMS on large systems
â€¢ Experience of working in a team that delivers a high availability service.
â€¢ Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service.
â€¢ Experience of other database systems, preferably SQL Server
â€¢ Practical experience in managing the internal and external MS SQL database security
â€¢ Practical Experience and knowledge of Administrating the Oracle Data guard in RAC environment
â€¢ 3-5+ years as a Production Oracle DBA in a UNIX environment, preferably AIX
â€¢ In-depth knowledge of Oracle 9i, 10g and 11g in a standalone and RAC environment
â€¢ Expert use of RMAN for Backup and Recovery.
â€¢ Expert performance tuning of production Oracle databases.
â€¢ Theoretical knowledge for the DR scenarios and decision making while facing the Disaster recovery issues
â€¢ Experience creating and migrating Oracle databases.
â€¢ Strong SQL and PL/SQL development experience
â€¢ In-depth knowledge of Oracle tools / utilities such as RMAN, import/export
â€¢ Working knowledge of UNIX platform including scripting, editors, etc
â€¢ Working knowledge and understanding of software development technologies, methodologies, and associated tools
â€¢ In-depth knowledge of Oracle 11g/10g with production support experience in a multi project environment.
â€¢ In-depth knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL including tuning.
â€¢ Experience with Unix/AIX in a multi-domain environment including basic commands and shell scripting.
â€¢ Oracle Recovery Manager, Import/Export (and Data dump), SQL*Loader
â€¢ Oracle performance and tuning skills including server configuration and tracing facilities.
â€¢ Practical experience in Oracle Enterprise Manager .
â€¢ Good working knowledge of job scheduling and monitoring tools.
â€¢ Experience of working with multiple projects/tasks and the ability to priorities on the fly.
â€¢ Oracle Streams and Advanced Replication administration.
â€¢ An interest in data warehousing.
