PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The USAID Office of Transition Initiative (OTI) funded Community Cohesion Initiative (CCI) is one of three principal stabilization programs in the USAID/Afghanistan Stabilization Unit. Through CCI, USAID OTI seeks to improve stability in areas vulnerable to insurgent exploitation in order to create an enabling environment for sustainable peace and traditional development programs by (1) strengthening ties between and among local actors, customary governance structures, and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GIRoA) and (2) empowering community-based resiliencies to mitigate sources of instability.
Under the supervision of the Database Administrator, the Database /IT Assistant will aid in managing and maintaining the networks, hardware, and software for ASGP Offices. S/he will contribute to technical implementation within ASGP Offices, maintain inventories of ICT equipment and assist with trouble shooting as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
â€¢ Assist the Database Administrator to design, implement and maintain a database management system for ASGP program.
â€¢ Aid in developing database utilities and automated reporting.
â€¢ Ensure data entering is consolidated and analyzed.
â€¢ Assist in building a database scheme, table procedures and SQL system.
â€¢ Help set up data sharing and networking.
â€¢ Assist with developing any other systems which are needed for keeping information regarding program issues.
â€¢ Aid in installing and testing new versions of the database management system.
â€¢ Aid in developing, managing and testing backup and recovery plans.
â€¢ Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.
â€¢ Monitor performance and manage parameters to provide fast query responses to 'front end' users.
â€¢ Provide reports according to the needs of the program.
â€¢ Any other tasks assigned by the Database Administrator.
â€¢ Experience in an IT role with exposure to database development and management in either a private or public organization.
â€¢ Experience working with USAID and/or USAID-funded projects, or other projects funded by other than US donor countries.
â€¢ Good communication and team-working skills.
â€¢ Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints.
â€¢ Fluency in oral and written English; in addition, fluency in Dari/Pashto strongly preferred.
â€¢ Excellent computers skills to include Microsoft Office applications, internet software, and data-base systems.
