Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Database Administrator, the Database /IT Assistant will aid in managing and maintaining the networks, hardware, and software for ASGP Offices. S/he will contribute to technical implementation within ASGP Offices, maintain inventories of ICT equipment and assist with trouble shooting as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist the Database Administrator to design, implement and maintain a database management system for ASGP program.
• Aid in developing database utilities and automated reporting.
• Ensure data entering is consolidated and analyzed.
• Assist in building a database scheme, table procedures and SQL system.
• Help set up data sharing and networking.
• Assist with developing any other systems which are needed for keeping information regarding program issues.
• Aid in installing and testing new versions of the database management system.
• Aid in developing, managing and testing backup and recovery plans.
• Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.
• Monitor performance and manage parameters to provide fast query responses to 'front end' users.
• Provide reports according to the needs of the program.
• Any other tasks assigned by the Database Administrator.

Job Requirements

• Experience in an IT role with exposure to database development and management in either a private or public organization.
• Experience working with USAID and/or USAID-funded projects, or other projects funded by other than US donor countries.
• Good communication and team-working skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints.
• Fluency in oral and written English; in addition, fluency in Dari/Pashto strongly preferred.
• Excellent computers skills to include Microsoft Office applications, internet software, and data-base systems.
