Database Specialist would perform the function of database designer, administrator and analyst. Also performs the function of data management related to project activities, by compiling, recording and producing reports. The Database Specialist would work under the supervision of and report to the COMPRI-A RM and E Manager.. The RM and E Database Specialist will be employed by the QED Group, LLC, and will work at the COMPRI-A Project office in Kabul, Afghanistan, on full-time basis under the auspices of the Futures Group.
As a part of the RM and E team, the RM and E Database Specialist will perform the following tasks:
1.Develop and design appropriate databases for sales, communication, training and outreach activities monitoring and evaluation data and establish reporting system, including integration of project MIS;
2.Maintain/manage databases for sales, training, communication, and outreach departments data;
3.Analyze the data and generate reports, charts and retrieve data from computer programs according to guidelines from RM and E manager or Chief of Party.
4.Verify accuracy, validity and completion of transcribed dataset using computer verification, proofreading, or other applicable computer methods; make corrections as necessary;
5.Compile ad-hoc reports from existing records; assist with searching computer files and gathering records as requested;
•High school graduate
•IT certificate of professional training and database management.
•Additional training certificate from recognized academic institution is an advantage
•Good command of English, including reading and writing skills required
•Proficiency in MS office application and as well as other database application
•Advanced degree in computer engineering, statistics or other relevant filed. Masters preferred, but others with strong relative experience will be considered.
•Proven experience generating reports/ charts from MS Access engine.
•Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, including attention to detail and the ability to work well in a team.
•2-3 years of experience of database management and database development
•Analytical skills to evaluate data and manage conflicting situations
•Demonstrated ability of communication skills
•Write and understand Microsoft SQL. Be able to write SQL statements, stored procedures and views using industry best practices for security and efficiency
•Knowledgeable in software installation and re-configuration on system
•At least 2 years direct experience developing and managing databases in MS Access and MS Excel. Knowledge of statistical software package (i.e. SPSS, STATA, etc.) is an advantage.
•Experience working with international organizations is desirable. Experience working with USAID funded projects is an advantage.
•Experience with developing and using Internet-based data collection and management tools is a plus.
•Fluency speaking in Dari or Pashto and competence in typing in these languages.
