Women for Afghan Women (WAW), Multi Location
Women for Afghan Women (WAW) is a grassroots civil society organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the rights of disenfranchised Afghan women and girls in Afghanistan and New York. In particular, WAW works to help Afghan women and girls exercise their rights to pursue their individual potential to self-determination, and to representation in all areas of life—political, social, cultural, and economic. WAW relentlessly advocates for women’s rights and challenges the norms that underpin gender-based violence to influence attitudes and bring about change.
He/She is required to follow this job description and complete her works in the respect of the WAW rules and regulations.
Ø Receive cases from counsellors that require legal action
Ø Conduct legal counselling with clients
Ø Action for Legal case solving.
Ø Keep all court appearances
Ø Prepare brief
Ø Do ongoing counselling of individual client and/or family members
Ø Conference with other professionals and organizations
Ø Getting national identification (Tazkera) for legal cases.
Ø Implementation of summon letter in difference area for solving of the legal cases.
Ø Enhance WAW visibility
Ø Meet with Ministries of Justice, Interior, Women’s Affairs; Office of Attorney General, police departments.
Ø Represent WAW at civic, religious and other public events
Ø Continue and expand relationships with NGOs, local government officials, schools and universities, etc.
Ø Registration the report of legal case in Database.
Ø To know the deference case type.
Ø Legal counsellingg to build trust.
Ø Prepare the clients for investigation and answering questions.
Ø Informing the client, the progress of her case in judicial organs.
Ø Contact with family of the clients.
Ø To be attentive the client's behaviour and embellishing her at the time of her transfer to the judicial organs.
Ø Completing the legal forms.
Ø Attending to the court sessions.
Ø Getting the Grantee letter when the clients reintegrate to their families.
Ø Prepare the weekly plan, monthly plan and monthly report.
Ø Able to work overtime on weekends or holidays required by the supervisor or program
Ø She is required to be adaptable for larger tasks not specified in this framework.
Ø Fluent in Dari/Pashto both writing and speaking (knowledge of English language is an advantage)
Ø Have knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office and other office automation
Ø Have bachelor law
Ø Have 2-3 years experience in related field -
o Enhance WAW visibility
o Meet with Ministries of Justice, Interior, Women’s Affairs; Office of Attorney General, police departments.
o Represent WAW at civic, religious and other public events
o Continue and expand relationships with NGOs, local government officials, schools and universities, etc.
