Deputy Project Manager will assist the Senior Projects Manager and working under his/her guidance will ensure PMU projects are provided with sufficient fiscal and material resources to achieve the project's goals in a timely manner. Further, the Deputy Project Manager is expected to ensure project support from sectors and other departments upon which the program success is dependent.
• Assist with enacting strategic and operational direction in accordance with the guidance of the Senior Projects Manager for the successful implementation of the projects.
• Help with providing strategic advice and oversight to project offices under PMU to ensure project outputs are aligned with the IARCSC overall goals and strategic PAR direction
• Coordinate interrelated activities among various related projects and between the Implementing Units of the program to strengthen efficiency and quality assurance
• Completes the performance management evaluations for the PMU projects staff and ensures that timely corrective action and needed training follow duly
• Provide consolidated analytic and quality project reports, updates and presentations for internal as well as external stakeholders use.
• Perform other duties as required for the successful completion of the projects
• Project and program management experience
• Advanced university degree or experience in related field
• Broad knowledge of the region where the assignment program is to be implemented.
• Strong analytical skills with excellent presentation and technical report writing and drafting
• Demonstrated leadership ability to manage complex projects in a team-driven setup
• Technical expertise and ability to organize and supervise multiple activities and requirements simultaneously and explain complex issues to diverse audience groups
• Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and delegation skills are essential
• Prior governmental experience in program/project management desirable
• Multi-project oversight, monitoring and evaluation (M and E) prior experience
• Experience working in highly-demanding and cultural sensitive environment
• Strong computer literacy and easy to operate MS Office and Project package
• Spoken and written English as well as Dari/ Pashtu fluency required.
