The Deputy Regional Director (DRD) will be responsible for maintaining close contact with Regional Managers of CBSG’s three Regional Offices and assist the Regional Director in coordinating their activities. A major responsibility will be to act as Creative CBSG’s main point of contact for its local partner organizations ADA, CHA and CoAR working at Provincial and District levels. The DRD will assist the Regional Director and Chief of Party in ensuring local partners are meeting their contractual obligations and facilitating and monitoring grant awards effectively and efficiently.
He/she will be expected to assume the responsibilities of the Regional Director at the end of the program’s first year.
• Deputize for the Regional Director in his/her absence
• Maintain close contact with Regional Managers and senior staff of CBSG’s three Regional Offices and assist the Regional Director in coordinating their activities and maintaining their efficiency and effectiveness
• Act as Creative CBSG’s main point of contact for its local partner organizations ADA, CHA and CoAR working at Provincial and District levels
• Assist the Regional Director and Chief of Party in ensuring local partners meet their contractual obligations and are facilitating and monitoring grant awards effectively and efficiently
• Represent CBSG and maintain close contact with USAID FPOs and General Development Officers based at PRTs and GIRoA representatives working at Provincial and District levels
• Travel frequently to CBSG Regional Offices and provide support and guidance where needed to Creative CBSG Regional Managers and senior staff plus local national partners ADA, CHA and CoAR working at Provincial and District levels
• Ensure all Regional Office activity accords with Creative and USAID policies and procedures
• Ensure regular and effective monitoring and evaluation of projects is taking place
• Report any obstacles encountered to effective and efficient program implementation and work with the Regional Director and Chief of Party to design and implement solutions that will overcome them
• Work with the CBSG Communications and Reporting Officer to ensure proper field reporting by CBSG Regional Office staff plus local national partners ADA, CHA and CoAR working at Provincial and District levels, including strict adherence to deadlines
• Identify training needs of CBSG Regional staff plus local national partners ADA, CHA and CoAR working at Provincial and District levels
Other duties:
• Assist in the development and implementation of training for Creative CBSG staff plus local national partners ADA, CoAR and CHA
• Any other duties suitable to task and commensurate with ability
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a relevant field essential
• Minimum five years supervisory or management role for international organizations / NGOs essential
• Minimum two years experience working on USAID funded programs essential
• Understanding of budget and cost control management essential
• Experience in project design and development essential
• Experience in comprehensive monitoring and evaluation essential
• Excellent written and spoken English and Dari essential
• Grants program experience desirable
• Written and spoken Pashtu desirable
• Ability to work under own initiative and efficiently handle multiple tasks
• Experience coordinating and interacting with PRTs desirable
• Excellent communication skills;
