Afghanistan Center for Training and Development - ACTD, Multi Location
ACTD seeks a Director of Development based in Kabul, who will be responsible for developing and implementing the development strategy for the organization. S/he reports to the director general and will be responsible for overall development of the organization in close coordination with the director general. S/he is also responsible to leverages key relationships and contacts within and outside of the organization to ensure achieving the developmental goals. Under the primary supervision of the Director General, he will be responsible for the following tasks:
• Develop and implement annual development plan and strategy in close coordination with the director general
• Lead and manage the organization’s overall development efforts and engage in research to identify new individual, foundation, and government prospects for fund raising.
• Maintain and expand ACTD’s funding donor base.
• Cultivate donors by producing specialized correspondences, scheduling and attending in-person visits and nurturing relationships
• Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and public relations strategy
• Supervise most development and public affairs matters, particularly the creation of various communications such as the annual report, general boilerplate, general power point presentations, government relations, executive correspondences and speeches and produce general content for website.
• Train and lead other staff to support fundraising and marketing efforts
• In consultation with program staff and the Director General, prepare grant proposals and reports.
• Write fundraising letters and appeals; maintaining regular correspondence with foundations, donors, and oversee mailings.
• Directly supervise the employees in the Development Department.
Required Qulification:
• Medical doctor, preferably MPH / MBA
Additional Qualifications:
The ideal applicant will have the following qualifications:
• At least 3-4 years of nonprofit fundraising/development experience, preferably with significant NGO/foundation and high donor fundraising experience.
• Proven management and leadership capabilities
• Familiarity with human rights, environmental, gender and development issues;
• Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills; excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to write clearly, persuasively, participate in public speaking events and have organizational skills.
