Job Summary:

The incumbent of this position is responsible for oversight of DRR related organization of target communities in line with the program objectives, and program implementation, identifying projects for the community, facilitating subprojects’ proposals and completion reports and performing any other identical duty as assigned

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Facilitate the promotion of DRR in disaster prone
communities
• Identify and initiate activities to enhance risk
reductions skills of targeted communities
• Identify pilot initiatives in DRR in select
communities
• Conduct capacity and vulnerability assessment in
identified communities.
• Facilitate the development of contingency plans in
targeted communities.
• Conduct awareness raising activities on
community-based disaster risk management

2. Build the capacity of field staff in the
implementation of the activities
• Identify the training needs of staff in DRR
activities
• Develop a capacity building plan for the staff of
DRR activities
• Facilitate trainings for staff in DRR
• Provide on the job training for supervisors and
project staff as required.

3. Supervise the implementation of the project
activities in the field
• Provide oversight to the work of the
supervisors/trainers/facilitators.
• Work closely with operations team for the
implementation of project activities
• Monitor and document field level activities.
• Prepares and monitors budgets for all sub projects

4. Identify and document all structural activities of
FIRUP related to risk reduction
5. Any other responsibilities and tasks assigned by
supervisors.


Job Requirement:

EDUCATION:
University degree (, agriculture, community development subjects or management)

WORK EXPERIENCE:
3-5 years of work experience preferably with international NGO
Experience of DRR and/or emergency preparedness and response activities.
SKILLS: technical skills in the area of community based activities for DRR
Experience in participatory appraisals, problem analysis and a good understanding of developmental and relief concepts.
Computer skills- especially in work and excel.
Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.

LANGUAGES:
Knowledge of both spoken and written English is required. Working knowledge of Pushto or Dari as the national languages of the host country will be preferred.

GENERAL:

The position will be required to travel to all project areas and willingness to work under difficult life conditions.

AUTHORITY:
CONTACTS/KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Primarily Project Manager – DRR, Director – Learning and new initiative, project supervisors, Field supervisors and other Care’s projects, communities.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position will be based in Kabul. Travel will be required to all project areas.
