The incumbent of this position is responsible for oversight of DRR related organization of target communities in line with the program objectives, and program implementation, identifying projects for the community, facilitating subprojectsâ€™ proposals and completion reports and performing any other identical duty as assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate the promotion of DRR in disaster prone communities
â€¢ Identify and initiate activities to enhance risk reductions skills of targeted communities
â€¢ Identify pilot initiatives in DRR in select communities
â€¢ Conduct capacity and vulnerability assessment in identified communities.
â€¢ Facilitate the development of contingency plans in targeted communities.
â€¢ Conduct awareness raising activities on community-based disaster risk management
2. Build the capacity of field staff in the implementation of the activities
â€¢ Identify the training needs of staff in DRR activities
â€¢ Develop a capacity building plan for the staff on DRR activities
â€¢ Facilitate trainings for staff in DRR
â€¢ Provide on the job training for supervisors and project staff as required.
3. Supervise the implementation of the project activities in the field
â€¢ Provide oversight to the work of the supervisors/trainers/facilitators.
â€¢ Work closely with operations team for the implementation of project activities
â€¢ Monitor and document field level activities.
â€¢ Prepares and monitors budgets for all sub projects
4. Identify and document all structural activities of FIRUP related to risk reduction

EDUCATION: University degree (, agriculture, community development subjects or management)
WORK EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years of work experience preferably with international NGO
Experience of DRR and/or emergency preparedness and response activities.
SKILLS: technical skills in the area of community based activities for DRR
Experience in participatory appraisals, problem analysis and a good understanding of developmental and relief concepts.
Computer skills- especially in work and excel.
Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively
LANGUAGES: Knowledge of both spoken and written English is required. Working knowledge of Pashto or Dari as the national languages of the host country will be preferred.
GENERAL: The position will be required to travel to all project areas and willingness to work under difficult life conditions.
Internal: Primarily Project Manager â€“ DRR, Director â€“ Learning and new initiative, project supervisors, Field supervisors and other Careâ€™s projects, communities.
The position will be based in Kabul. Travel will be required to all project areas.
