Job Summary:

The incumbent will have strong organizational skills; ability to interact effectively with international and national personnel of all sectors. He/she will have excellent communication and translation skills, both verbally and in written and will be a strong team player. A demonstrated ability to multi-task and process information into action is compulsory.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 Data for students and businesses will be collected by coordinators in the field and brought back to Helmand office. The DM and E Assistant will then be required to enter this data onto an access database created by MercyCorps DM and E department.
 Work with PM to create reports from the database
 Work closely with other DM and E staff to ensure data is clean and accurate
 Be up to date on the DM and E methodologies used by Mercy Corps internationally and integrate these methodologies into work carried out for the INVEST programme
 Assist programme team to develop surveys and questionnaires to validate existing data
 Submit a monthly progress report on the Assessment and Monitoring activities to the program manager,
 Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission in Afghanistan;
 Be trained and knowledgeable regarding basic DM and E concepts
 Help develop and ensure the understanding and use of approved DM and E forms
 Attend or participate in regular DM and E Support Unit meetings
 Experience with monitoring and evaluating of NGO program; inputs, activities, outputs, outcomes and impact are preferred.
 Prior experience of carrying out surveys, conducting interviews, and undertaking assessments.
 The candidate should have clear evidence of experience and understanding of qualitative and quantitative indicators.
 Creative, lateral thinking, analytical and report writing skills are necessary a necessary experience. Proficiency in written and spoken English and Pashto. Experience in use of Logical Frameworks as a management tool is essential. Experience of conducting Participatory methods for decision making extremely desirable.
 Other duties as assigned.
 Continually represent Mercy Corps professionally during and after work hours.

Job Requirement:

The candidate should have experience working with Microsoft Office computer packages with Microsoft Excel, Word and Access as a must. Experience working with databases or management information systems is desirable
