About World Vision International Afghanistan:
PURPOSE OF POSITION
To provide a wide range of expedient support services for World Vision regarding transportation. To co-ordinate the driving function with the Logistician in order to enhance transport services. To ensure that all tasks are carried out in a timely manner.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Driving and Maintenance
â€¢ Each driver should be aware of WV Vehicle Policy and take whole responsibility for the vehicle assigned to him.
â€¢ In order to enable proper monitoring and utilization of a vehicle, each driver is required to maintain the logbook properly.
â€¢ Check allocated WV vehicles on a daily basis (checking oil leaks, accident damage, tyre conditions, and servicing).
â€¢ Ensure that the vehicle status is in a good condition before field trips and equipped with necessary spare parts, such as spare tires, engine oil, brake fluid and spare filters.
â€¢ Ensure that all the WV vehicles have standard tool kits, winterization tools, first aid kits, and emergency food ration.
â€¢ Ensure that safety belts are always worn when vehicle is in motion, and vehicle should not be overloaded â€“ both in forms of number of passengers and the weight of the cargo carried.
â€¢ Ensure that the mechanical state of allocated WV vehicle and defects are reported to the Transportation Officer / Head Driver in a timely manner.
â€¢ Ensure that accidents or damages are reported to the Transportation Officer / Head Driver.
â€¢ Check insurance and vehicle licences for allocated World Vision vehicles.
â€¢ Make sure that the vehicle is clean at all the time. Drivers are required to ensure that vehicle is cleaned and maintained and kept to WV standard, especially after field trip.
â€¢ Ensure that vehicles have enough fuel, all the time at least more than half the tank.
â€¢ Collect and deliver packages, goods and mail in cooperation with Transportation Officer.
â€¢ Assist visiting WV staff by transporting them to hotels, team house and/or office.
â€¢ Minimum 2 years of experience in driving.
â€¢ Valid driverâ€™s license for a minimum of 5 years.
â€¢ Minimum knowledge of car mechanics.
â€¢ Thorough knowledge of the road system of the area of work.
â€¢ Thorough knowledge of traffic regulations.
â€¢ Moderate English.
â€¢ Ability to work in a cross-cultural and multi-religious environment with multi-national staff.
â€¢ Ability to prioritize work in relation to need and urgency.
â€¢ A working knowledge of fax machine, photocopier and telephone.
â€¢ The driver must maintain a high standard of personal appearance.
