Under the Direct Supervision of the Administrator Afghanistan, the Driver is responsible for providing the driving services for Save the Children JLBD - Afghanistan Program.
Save the Children Afghanistan Program works for realization of Children's Rights and protection of their well-being together and civil societies from rights based perspective worldwide and Particularly in Afghanistan. We are mandated to bringing the lasting positive changes in the lives of all children worldwide.
Duties & Responsibilities:
â€¢ To keep office vehicle well operating and maintained in a safe technical and secure way.
â€¢ To regularly check and control all parts and system of his vehicle.
â€¢ To meet all incoming visitors, guests and expatriates in Air Port and load their luggage.
â€¢ To drive the office vehicle assigned within Afghanistan for field trips and office trips as and when required observing all security rules for safety of passengers and the vehicle.
â€¢ To maintain vehicle and logbook accurately on a daily basis and submit a monthly vehicles report to the transport supervisor.
â€¢ To establish immediate contact with relevant authorities in case of theft, fire and other accidents and emergencies happening to the vehicle or passenger.
â€¢ To fasten safety belts (provided in the vehicle) and ensure that staff members/passengers travelling with him also use available seat belts.
â€¢ To be aware of and observe all traffic regulations while driving the official vehicle.
â€¢ To be updated on security alerts and traffic reports in order to transport staff safely and without unnecessary delay.
â€¢ To have updated instructions on how to handle different security situations.
â€¢ To keep the essential records and documents of the vehicle in a secure way issued by transport supervisor.
â€¢ To assess the vehicles need for repair and maintenance and ensure that a quality job is done in the workshop.
â€¢ To keep the vehicle clean and in a good working and operating order.
â€¢ To do the loading and unloading of materials and equipments in the vehicle.
â€¢ To immediately report any mechanical problem, abnormalities or accidents to his concerned Supervisor or Line Manager.
â€¢ To ensure all the necessary tools and fires aid kit required is in the vehicle before leaving the office or duty station.
â€¢ To temporarily substitute in carrying out the work of another driver, or other staff as and when required.
â€¢ To be prepared to perform duties after the office hours and on weekends or holidays as per instruction.
â€¢ To cooperate with all Staff in a friendly manner so as to encourage team spirit.
â€¢ To carry out additional tasks decided by the Line Manager within the limits of the character of the
o School degree or from a reputable institute of education is preferred.
o Certificates and working experience in driving related field
o 2-3 years work experience in similar position in National or International Organization
o In depth knowledge of vehicle watching, log-book/ book-keeping/ and reporting
o Experience of working knowledge and training of security related issues is preferred

o Have a flexible attitude to changing priorities and adaptability to the environment.
o Have the ability and capacity to think ahead and highlight areas of concern, risks etc with planning and reporting to the line supervisor.
o Good team player and capable of working in multicultural environment
