Job Summary

The Driver reports to the National Security Officer. This is a full time position based in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Duties & Responsibilities

To drive IDLO fleet vehicles for the transportation of authorized personnel and the delivery/collection of mail, documents, cargo, pouches and other items.

Ensure that the assigned vehicle is clean and roadworthy, producing paperwork as necessary.

To fill in the log book for all journeys.

Meet IDLO personnel at the airport and provide necessary assistance for them.

Responsible for day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, headlights, perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs through management.

Keep a record of use of vehicle, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing and other services.

Assist in the loading, unloading and movement of furniture, equipment, cargo and office supplies;

Perform miscellaneous office support functions, such as messenger.

Perform other related duties as required by the supervisor.

This position requires shift work, including day, evening and overnight duties.

Familiarize yourself with locations visited by IDLO and procedures at that locations

Be familiar with the IDLO driver’s manual.

Usage of IDLO emergency equipment, tracking units and medical and breakdown equipment.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION

School level education, including basic literacy and numeracy.

EXPERIENCE

Full valid driving license (required)

Two years professional driving experience (required)

Full competency driving a manual/stick shift vehicle (required)

Experience driving Armored Vehicles (desirable)

Experience working with an International Organization (desirable)

Completion of security driving or Armored Vehicle course (desirable)

Completion of security awareness training (desirable)

Previous experience with IDLO an advantage

LANGUAGE(S) REQUIRED
English:

Able to speak and understand verbal English to a good standard.
Dari:

Native/fluent standard required for verbal and written Dari.

Excellent communications skills.

Punctuality and total reliability.

Ability to learn detailed procedures and adhere to them.

Excellent judgment and decision making skills.
