Job Summary:

ROLE PURPOSE:

The central role of this job holder is to ensure sound technical quality of all disaster risk reduction activities and supporting the participation of children and adults in preparedness, mitigation initiatives under SIDA-funded project. This will include thorough analysis of local disaster risks, and regular visits to project sites to support and stimulate communities to plan and consider how they can mitigate the impact of disaster and mobilize resources to implement community disaster management plan.

·        Good communication skills in Dari, Pashto with some English-language ability

Duties & Responsibilities:

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :


Ø Support community in organizing Community Disaster Management Committee (CDMC)

Ø Maintaining regular communication with communities, particularly women and children on Disaster Risk Reduction.

Ø Plan and implement training activities for community members and local government partners, using latest disaster risk reduction best practices

Ø Organize disaster simulation activities

Ø Conduct participatory HVCA in community to build risk map, ensuring the participation of children.

Ø Support community in developing Emergency preparedness and response plan

Ø Plan and carry out disaster awareness campaigns through releasing DRR key messages and other possible ways.

Ø Develop a work plan and activity reports

Ø Submission of plan and reports timely, to project coordinator, Develop case studies from project activities for the donor and policy decision markers

Ø Support with the DRR Community Mobilizer for arranging, conducting and following up training relevant to the project.

Ø Follow- up and support the groups trained to act accordingly in communities.

Ø Any other task assigned by the project Coordinator or senior management of SCI.

Ø Prepare and implement action plan for quality monitoring

Ø Mobilizing and Making communities aware on project objectives, outputs and activities and SCI Child Safeguarding Policies.

Ø Facilitate project and activities information at all events such as training and workshops

Ø Support Coordinators on day to day handling of department tasks related to partners

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS 

·        University Degree is preferable.

·        Able to travel to the filed, working with watershed committee and other CBOs at the community level.
