Social and Educational services Organization (SESO) is an independent, non-profit organization that aims to empower Afghan society by offering social and educational services, especially to marginalized and under-represented populations.

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Center Manager, the Education Adviser will provide one-on-one and group advising on studying in the U.S. and is responsible for promoting educational and exchange opportunities in the U.S, and advise students on how to apply for scholarships and educational programs in the U.S. 


Duties & Responsibilities

·      Provide accurate comprehensive, current and timely information about educational opportunities in the U.S. at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate, high school level as well as for specialized study;

·      Adhere to Principles of Ethical Practice for EducationUSA advising;

·      Actively promote U.S. higher education by offering comprehensive and up-to-date information about accredited educational institutions and educational opportunities in the United States;

·      Assist students with preparing for studying, training, or research in the U.S. by providing materials/advice on testing, application procedures, and educational opportunities at U.S. institutions;

·      Design, prepare and deliver group and individual advising sessions on a variety of topics (e.g., admission process, standardized tests,) to Afghan students interested in applying to U.S. educational institutions;

·      Promote advising services through advertising, and outreach to Afghan schools, colleges, and other organizations;

·      Establish and maintain contacts at the highest level with nationally and internationally prominent contacts in the field of education;

·      Advise students on how to prepare strong applications for different U.S. Government-sponsored exchange programs;

·      Guide and support students in the selection of scholarships, best fit colleges/schools, and significant;

·      Assist students in gaining responsibility for their educational choices and achievements in the U.S.;

·      Assist students on how to adapt themselves to the diverse American culture and complete their studies in the universities to pursue their higher education in different and complex circumstances;

·      Organize/lead Cohort advising groups at the center and high schools;

·      Develop information packets on a specific field of study and area of education to student's need;

·      Maintain Social Media pages and KEAC online presence;

·      Prepare promotional materials for KEAC to promote educational advising services;

·      Serve as back to Center Manager on overall day-to-day project activities;

·      Travel to provinces to conduct outreach and advising sessions/event;

·      Create and maintain strategic and collaborative partnerships with educational institutions, government entities and any other organization with the shared goals of the organization;

·      Plan, develop, and execute activities, sessions, workshop, and seminars independently as described in the job description or assigned by the supervisor;

·      Be able to complete the requirements of becoming a certified EducationUSA Advisor which requires an online fundamental EducationUSA training and a two-week training in the United States;

·      Provide weekly reports along with photos for sessions organized and activities done;

·      Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor;

Job Requirements

·      At least five years of experience in the field of education, administration or another relevant field is required;

·      University degree in a related field (education, fine arts, business administration) required;

·      The candidates shall have worked in a similar capacity for Universities, government entities, NGOs or international organizations;

·      Excellent communication, problem-solving and presentation skills;

·      Committed to hard work and continual learning;

·      Ability to develop and present public information materials to promote center use;

·      Solid commitment to customer service;

·      A sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook);

·      The candidate must be fluent in both spoken and written English and Dari/Pashto;

·      Be able to work with people of different backgrounds and age groups;
