Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Education Adviser, the Education Advising Assistant will provide one-on-one and group advising on studying in the U.S. and is responsible for teaching and advising students on how to apply for scholarships and educational programs in the U.S.

Duties & Responsibilities:

·      Provide accurate comprehensive, current and timely information about educational opportunities in the U.S. at undergraduate, graduate and post graduate, high school level as well as for specialized study;

·      Adhere to Principles of Ethical Practice for EducationUSA Advising;

·      Assist students with preparing for study, training, or research in the United States by providing materials on testing, application procedures, and educational opportunities at U.S. institutions;

·      Assist Education Adviser in designing, preparing and delivering group and individual advising sessions on a variety of topics (e.g, admission process, standardized tests) to Afghan students interested in applying to U.S. educational institutions;

·      Run group sessions, individual advising and presentations on all topics of advising;

·      Advise students on how to prepare strong applications for different U.S. Government sponsored educational and exchange programs;

·      Guide and support students in the selection of scholarships, best fit colleges, and major; 

·      Provide assistance to the Education Adviser in leading cohort advising activities at the center and education institution;

·      Coordinate/conduct outreach to Afghan schools, colleges and other organizations;

·      Maintain Social Media pages and KEAC online presence on the Internet;

·      Handle general educational inquiries received via phone and email;

·      Establish and maintain contacts with highest level, nationally and internationally prominent contacts in the field of education;

·      Serve as Proctor for TOEFL iBT/GRE test when required;

·      Travel to provinces for outreach and advising;

·      Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor;

Job Location:

·      At least 3 years experience in field of education, administration or relevant field is required;

·      University degree in a related field (fine arts, business administration) required;

·      The candidates shall have worked in a similar capacity for universities, governmental body, NGOs or international organization;

·      Excellent communication, problem solving and presentation skills;

·      Committed to hard work and continual learning;

·      Some ability to develop and present public information materials to promote center use;

·      Solid commitment to customer service;

·      A sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook);

·      The candidate must be fluent in both spoken and written English and Dari/Pashto;

·      Be able to work with people of different backgrounds ang age-groups;
