Chemonics International, a leading international development consulting firm, seeks an Energy Efficiency and Demand Side Management Specialist for an anticipated USAID-funded energy sector improvement program. The objective of the program is to improve access to reliable and affordable clean energy, improve regulations and governance in the energy sector, demonstrate the use of innovative technologies and busines models, and assist with the transition to a low-carbon development trajectory.
The Energy Efficiency and Demand Side Management Specialist may be asked to carry out such activities as: identifying and assessing energy policies and regulations which may
constrain investment in energy efficiency; promoting the adoption and implementation of energy service companies; providing technical assistance to multilateral and host-country financial institutions to increase the lender's capacity to make loans for energy efficiency; assisting in the design of utility and municipal supply and demand-side energy efficiency management including efficiency improvements in the infrastructure for the electricity, water, and district heating sectors; providing technical assistance to host country energy officials on the development of an appliance standards and labels program;
providing technical assistance to the private sector on strategies for efficient energy use and identifying
suitable energy efficient technologies for using energy efficiently; developing analysis on energy efficiency indicators and trends and the overall importance of energy efficiency activities for sustainable development solutions.
Advanced degree in engineering, economics, business or energy/environmental policy
Prior international donor experience on similar projects
At least 5 years of applicable technical and professional experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Fluency in English (written and spoken)
