Job Summary

The English Instructor is responsible of teaching English to the MPW Counterparts and to provide English language support to the project. The English Instructor will work under the direct supervision of the Task Order Manager and the Deputy Task Order Manager. The English Instructor will perform the following principal functions relating to project support but are not limited to:

Duties & Responsibilities

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Carry out students' needs assessments.
• Analyze English language training needs.
• Identify and select teaching and instruction modules and materials for English course.
• Planning English instruction for students at different proficiency level.
• Preparing and delivering English instruction and tests for students at different language proficiency levels.
• Identification and use of audio/visual media, role play and video recording to keep record of student’s progress.
• Set clear targets, based on prior attainment, for students' learning.
• Provide a participatory classroom environment, and facilitate the access and use of teaching resources.
• Develop a simple and effective system to monitor and evaluate students' progress.
• Report to O and M training group about the language instruction progress.
• Participate in meetings which relates to the student's management and curriculum implementation.
• Maintain ethics and core values of the organization, both inside and outside the classroom.
• Contribute to constructive team-building amongst teaching and non-teaching staff.
• Assist TO-14 with other language related tasks such as translations, proofing documents and other related tasks.
• Other duties as assigned by the O and M Managers and Specialists.

Job Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

• At least three years experience teaching English as a second language at college or university, or with English training institutions.
• Familiar with modern and effective teaching methodologies and learning aids.
• Must have experience in using different media (Audio/Visual) imparting training.
• Proven experience delivering English language classes, developing curriculum and teaching, developing tests and evaluation tools.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience in working with a large NGO would be an advantage.

Education:

• Diploma or Advanced Level Three Certificate of English Language from a private institution or University degree in English Language.
• Excellent command of the English language (Speaking, Reading, Writing, Listening).
• Computer literate in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point.
• Strong academic background teaching English as a Second Language highly desirable.


Language Requirements:

• Level 4

Abilities and Skills:

• Ability to work in a team, ability to work under pressure to meet the deadlines and excellent interpersonal skills are required.
