Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Facilitates and completes the customs clearance of all shipments that pertain to Louis and Berger Group / Black and Veatch Joint Venture, subcontractors, and employees of the above mentioned.
• Facilitate the import and export customs clearances from all points of entry and export in Afghanistan including Kabul, Kandahar and others.
• Manage and prepare import and export clearance documents and letters that pertain to Louis and Berger Group and Black and Veatch Joint Venture, USAID, UNOPs, Ministry Of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, and other related offices.
• Check the accuracy and correct if necessary of all the documentation submitted by subcontractors, Task Orders, and individuals with Louis and Berger Group and Black and Veatch Joint Venture prior to being submitted to USAID, UNOPs, Ministry Of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, and other related offices or agencies.
• Maintains accurate and up to date files on all export and imports and internal country shipments.
• Verifies items imported or exported by inspecting condition of items; comparing count/measure of items to the waybill, purchase order, and packing list; noting discrepancies.
• Verify clearing, transport and shipping rates to insure that LBG/B and V is not being over charged.
• Inform the Inventory Manager and Warehouse Manager as to when the goods / cargo will be cleared customs and delivered to the warehouse.
• Inform the Inventory Manager and Warehouse Manager as to when the goods / cargo will be exported and give the copies of the export documents to them when completed.
• In conjunction with the custom’s clearances [whether import or export] coordinate the movement of goods and cargo to or from the warehouse. This may entail the scheduling of trucks, trailers, cranes and other transportation equipment as required.
• After completion of custom’s clearance for an importation escort the cargo / goods the applicable warehouse and hand over to LBG/B and V shipping and receiving.
• Prepares shipments by assembling, packing, protecting, and labeling containers.
• Determines the best method of shipment by examining items to be shipped, destination, route, rate, and time of shipment.
• Insure that all goods sent for export are IATA compliant.
• Report to the Assistant Logistics Manager through out the Customs process
• As required assist the Logistics Department Inventory Manager or as assigned in conducting a physical inventory.
• As required assist all Louis and Berger Group / Black and Veatch Joint Venture personnel.
• Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Logistics Manager, Logistics Manager or their representatives.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 4-5 years technical and practical experience in the logistics field of customs clearing, shipping, and import/export.
• A thorough knowledge of and proficient in customs clearing and freight forwarding.
• A thorough knowledge of Afghan Customs laws and Regulations.
• A thorough knowledge of the Afghanistan ports of entry and export.
• A thorough knowledge of cargo transportation systems and types of transport.
• Individual must possess a strong knowledge of packaging, import/export regulations, IATA regulations and distribution.
• Must be able to read and count accurately; skills in mathematics and spreadsheets are vital.
• Accuracy and thoroughness is required in the work with great attention to detail.
• Must have strong English oral and written communication skills.
• The ability to follow directions is extremely important.
• Excellent organization skills and be able to work in a fast paced environment.
• Computer skills including Excel Spread Sheet and Word.
• Excellent interpersonal, supervisory and motivational skills.
• Logical thinker.
• Must have flexibility in work schedule.
• Capable of standing; and walking for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds continuously and 40 pounds frequently
Education: High School diploma

Language Requirements: level 4 fluent in English. Pashto, Dari

Years of Experience: 4-5 years in the logistics industry specifically clearing and shipping.

Abilities and Skills: Ability to work in a team, ability to work under pressure to meet the deadlines and good interpersonal skills are required.
