The Facility Assistant / Cleaner is responsible for the effective cleaning and maintenance of all ASI – EAST offices and guest houses in Kabul
The Facilities Assistant/Cleaner is responsible for the following tasks:
• Perform and coordinate all facilities maintenance and repair; perform necessary repairs as soon as the problem is identified.
• Ensure operational efficiency of all administrative and facility equipment; conduct routine checks of the facilities to ensure that the equipment is functioning properly.
• Responsible for the effective operation of all guest-houses.
• Guarantee the smooth functioning and conduct regular maintenance of the generators.
• Perform electrical and mechanical repairs when required
• Ensure availability of public utilities (water and electric supplies) and troubleshoot any issues with provision of utility services or with the accounts.
• Oversee the functionality and effectiveness of heating and cooling systems
• Identify all facilities maintenance and repair requirements and take corrective action.
• Maintain stock of cleaning and building management supplies and keep control of their use and distribution.
• Ensure the removal of all trash and prevent the accumulation of unused equipment/furniture, packing materials and other items which might jeopardize security.
• Properly clean all areas in and around the building, to include - but not limited to - around the guesthouse, offices, bathrooms, halls, stairs, windows, and balconies.
• Properly stock bathrooms with necessary items.
• Notify Facility Coordinator of cleaning needs or issues with cleaning equipment.
• Interact with international and national staff
EDUCATION
• High School degree in relevant field required or equivalent experience.
WORK EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of 4 years experience in relevant positions. Experience working in a similar position for an NGO or an international organization is preferred. USAID funded project experience is a plus. Must have willingness to travel to DAI Afghanistan field offices / Guest house on DAI business. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment is a must. In addition, must be flexible, willing to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and work irregular hours.

• Working language proficiency in spoken and written Pashto and English, Dari a plus.

REPORTING:
• Reports directly to the Facility Supervisor
