Job Summary

To provide professional installation and maintenance of different types of fiber optic cables , including provision of technical assistance in designing and testing using professional laser and optical fiber devices and systems. The ability to work both inside and outside taking care of the installation, troubleshooting and other technical aspects. the individual should have proper knowledge of various electronic components, computer operating systems, routers and other networking equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Resolve, repair and install fiber optics systems and ensure that they work properly
• Examine and replace faulty and old fiber optic cables, connectors and also organize scheduled maintenance routines
•  Maintain accurate documentation of the configurations of all OFC infrastructure
• Take care of fiber splicing and rectify fiber optic problem areas
• Develop sensor indicators and conduct timely inspections to make sure that faulty fiber optic system does not destabilize its performance
• Execute premises cabling and take care of the underground and underwater cabling requirements
• Keep track of the signal strength of different devices such as routers, switches and telephone to provide adequate performance
• Formulate and maintain system records and system designs

Job Requirements

Bachelor Degree in electronics, Telecommunication, or Computer Technology

Specific Fiber Optics certification or degree would be preferred

Certified Fiber Optics Technician

On the job training and Industry certification is an added Advantage
