Job Summary:

Provide technical support, in designing and implementing the activities of the project, to ensure that the activities are sustainable and has a longer impact on the beneficiaries of the project.

Duties & Responsibilities:

•The Project Engineer shall ensure close coordination between government’s related department and non government related organization during IOM funded project implementation.
•Conducting comprehensive survey of returnees and internal displaced people (IDPs) in assigned communities
•Organizing and attending community regular meetings to share project objective and discuss project implementation methodology with Community Development Council (CDC) and community members
•Support social organizers, CDC and community members to prioritize or revise community development plan (CDP) especially focus on returnees needs
•Conduct technical survey in the field based on community need and IOM project allocated fund.
•Making estimation cost of the proposed projects of communities and share with CDCs in community meetings
•Technical design, drawing and preparation of Bill of Quantity (BoQ) for final proposed infrastructure sub-projects
•Cooperate in preparation of standards and provide designs for structures build
•Making list of required construction materials for project and support in procurement of materials for project and support in procurement of materials with procurement team
•Regular monitoring from community infrastructure sub-projects construction activities progress and giving technical advice accordingly
•Reviewing the available designs and prepare new standard designs for cost efficient structures
•Traveling to perform assignments, checking and construction controlling
•Make sure the implementation of the project according to the approved time table plan
•Coordinate with the CDC and community members to have significant controls and check the quality of project materials
•Provide progress report of the project and keep proper record of all reports and activities
•Provide project monthly and quarterly work plan and progress report the PSU Manager
•Conducting meetings with the team to discuss related issues and making decision as per needs
•Performs other duties related to the project as and whenever required

Job Requirement:

•Degree in B.SC. in Civil Engineering
•At least three yeas accumulated skills and experience in the same field
•Fluency in writing and speaking English and local language Dari/Pashto
•Understanding of gender rights based issues and approaches
•Strong analytical skills
•Flexible, forward looking, open, willingness to learn new things
•Demonstrated ability to deliver quality reports within the deadline
•Problem solving skills
•Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization
•Being friendly with the colleagues and works best in a team
•Computer skills
•Willingness to travel to the project sites frequently and staying there
