To review, process, reconcile, and monitor FIRUP financial records and employment payments. Manage the day-to-day financial activities. Make sure that financial policies, procedures and systems that promote good stewardship are adhered. Ensure all applicable grant requirements are in place and consistently followed. Assist the Zone Finance department with the preparation and sending the original documentation to Head office, Herat.
• To track, document, and clear all advances.
• Review all transactions before entering them in Cashbooks and ensure that the supporting documents are correct, in order and sufficient.
• Make sure that Labor distribution report is attached to all salaries and wages.
• Make sure the coding is correct and match with all supporting documents.
• Review purchase request against budget availability before processing purchase.
• Keep an updated USD and AFS Cashbooks and bank books.
• Handle all AFS transactions.
• Backup cashbooks on a weekly basis but make sure that the books of accounts are saved on the sever on a daily basis.
• Making sure of having cash available for the zonal program operations.
• Making sure of having enough funds in USD/AFS account.
• Perform weekly AFS/USD cash counts and reconcile actual counts with cashbook.
• Make sure for USD and AFS bank reconciliation on a monthly basis.
• Support finance manager as a buck up.
• Data entry to computer
• Preparation of finance template books ( in AFS and USD)
• Make sure the hard copies of financial documents being sent to Herat Office on monthly basis
• Process additional task which are assign from the finance manager.
• University Degree in Business management, accounting, or related field.
• Must have at least two years experience in an Accounts department, with experience of performing account reconciliations.
• Must have strong computer skills, knowledge of computerized accounting packages, such as Sun Systems will be an added advantage.
• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• Must be able to work in a cross-cultural environment.
• Must be able to work with multiple deadlines and high demands.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with absolute discretion is mandatory to the position, and not doing so will be cause of termination.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal direction.
• Strong communication skills in English (oral and written).
• Ability to work in and contribute to team building environment.
• Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources.
