About FLAG International:
FLAG International Afghanistan (FIA) is an AISA registered non-governmental organization based in Kabul. FIA provides entrepreneurs, businesses and community groups with business planning, financial instruction and career training opportunities in order to maximize their economic, social and entrepreneurial potential. FIA is also a facilitating partner under the National Solidarity Program, which provides capacity building, infrastructure improvements and technical expertise to communities throughout Afghanistan. In addition, FIA is engaged in agricultural extension training in conjunction with the Ministry of Agriculture, Information and Livestock, engaging with farming communities on new agricultural methods, tools and techniques.
Food quality and post-harvest loss control

Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop GlobalGAP and the HCDP manuals applied to major fruits and vegetables.
Establish the baseline data and set targets for post-harvest loss control plans for coops.
Design and establish pre-coolers, cold storage facilities, packing/processing plants.
Provide leadership and training for the HCDP, DACD, and coop conducting short-term technical assistance.
A minimum of 3 yearsâ€™ experience evaluating needs, designing, implementing, and overseeing programs in food quality and post-harvest loss control for horticulture or agriculture systems.
Familiarity designing and operating packing, processing, pre-cooling, and cold storage systems.
Dari fluency is a must and English proficiency is desirable but not mandatory.
University degree in food science with emphasis in field and horticulture crops, and/or post-harvest loss control, packing houses, and cold chain systems. Masterâ€™s degree is a plus
Work experience with major development agency (e.g., USAID, World Bank, ADB, DAI, Chemonics, etc.)
Experience in design and facilitation of short- and long-term training programs.
Detail-oriented and organized. Self-starter; perform with minimum supervision.
Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing.
Good problem-solving skills.
High level of proficiency in MS Office applications including MS Project Management.
