Skills Description:

Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop GlobalGAP and the HCDP manuals applied to major fruits and vegetables.
Establish the baseline data and set targets for post-harvest loss control plans for coops.
Design and establish pre-coolers, cold storage facilities, packing/processing plants.
Provide leadership and training for the HCDP, DACD, and coop conducting short-term technical assistance.

Job Location:



A minimum of 3 years’ experience evaluating needs, designing, implementing, and overseeing programs in food quality and post-harvest loss control for horticulture or agriculture systems.
Familiarity designing and operating packing, processing, pre-cooling, and cold storage systems.
Dari fluency is a must and English proficiency is desirable but not mandatory.
University degree in food science with emphasis in field and horticulture crops, and/or post-harvest loss control, packing houses, and cold chain systems. Master’s degree is a plus
Work experience with major development agency (e.g., USAID, World Bank, ADB, DAI, Chemonics, etc.)
Experience in design and facilitation of short- and long-term training programs.
Detail-oriented and organized. Self-starter; perform with minimum supervision.
Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing.
Good problem-solving skills.
High level of proficiency in MS Office applications including MS Project Management.
