Afghanistan Farm Service Alliance

Job Summary:

CNFA is hiring for several positions to work for the Farm Service Association of Afghanistan (FSCAA). The FSCAA is an owner’s group association created by the USAID-funded Afghanistan Farm Service Alliance (AFSA) program to drive the expansion and enhancement of wholesale/retail agricultural input supply stores called FSCs, which are being established throughout Afghanistan. The FSCAA has elected a Board of Directors and has mobilized task groups for marketing and advertising; new business development; output marketing; and extension and training. In addition, the association is working towards a franchise-type operation with collective inventory purchases to lower costs of inputs to farmers, association approved standards for inventories, an FSC marketing and advertising program, brand recognition, similar store layouts, and collective association bidding on input supply contracts. The FSCAA continues to develop as a source of technical assistance and training for FSC store owners/employees.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Managing Director will be responsible for overseeing all FSCAA activities including management of FSCAA staff, coordinating Board of Director meetings and overseeing new business opportunities for the FSC members. The Managing Director will be responsible for representing the FSCAA to outside stakeholders including potential customers, donor organizations and other development programs. He/she will manage the FSCAA staff and will be responsible for driving recruitment of new staff as needed. The Managing Director will ensure that the FSCAA is responsive to the needs of the member FSCs and will execute a cost recovery plan to ensure the FSCAA is financial sustainable in the long-term.

Job Requirement:

• 10+ years organizational management and development experience
• Familiarity with Afghan agriculture and agribusiness
• Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders
• Strong command of English language
• Relevant advanced degree
