The Gender Advisor will provide technical support to promote a mutually reinforcing group of advocates and efforts to lead a sustainable campaign in support of electoral public outreach campaign. In addition, the Gender Advisor will work closely with our partner CSOs that they work with throughout the country to ensure gender equity in their activities and will work with the STEP staff to ensure gender integration into all aspects of program implementation.
ï‚§With an international Gender consultant, advise on the gender component in the electoral campaign and its implementation through the local partners in Afghanistan.
ï‚§Provide support to all local partners specific to gender mainstreaming, with a particular emphasis on helping Afghan NGOs can be utilized in providing necessary advocacy regarding women participation in the electoral process
Provide training on gender, and women’s rights. Train 10 NGO partner representatives as Master Trainers on gender equality and women’s rights in political participation, with a view to their disseminating this information to the various regions of Afghanistan.
ï‚§Work with the STEP Grant Team to ensure that all projects supported through the program enhance and uphold the role of women in Afghan society and to ensure that Gender is mainstreamed into the projects and grant process. Make monthly monitoring visits to all projects funded by STEP to ensure that gender equity commitments are followed.
Assist women’s organizations, Shuras, women’s advisory groups and community groups in their electoral advocacy involvement
Identify women leaders of NGOs and other women’s organizations and mobilize them as key partners in the establishment, enhancement and functioning of the local partners
ï‚§Engage, network and liaise with a broad range of organizations including the GoA, UN agencies and NGOs.
ï‚§Liaison and coordination with local and international NGOs to improve the knowledge and build the capacity of women to participate as candidates in the election process;
ï‚§ Advanced university degree
ï‚§ 5-10 years Experience working with NGOs
ï‚§ Excellent planning skills
ï‚§ Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
ï‚§ Excellent English skills
ï‚§ Experience working with NGOs
ï‚§ Solid narrative and financial reporting skills
ï‚§ Solid computer skills in Word and Excel
