ASDP project has announced vacancy of Gender Assistant in order to be responsible for all gender issue and to see that gender is adequately mainstreamed across all academic and non academic activities of the Institute with the close coordination of donor and other stakeholder.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The duties of Gender Assistant are described as below but not limited to:
Provide information to the management to aid in him/her acquiring knowledge of the gender situation in the institute;
Establish and maintain contacts with female party leaders, candidates, election administrators, and other women non-governmental organizations and provide both consultancies to NIMA students and job opportunities;
Coordinate and establish different seminars for NIMA female students by female leaders in the government, NGOs, and other international organizations;
Ensure that NIMA admission department has kept a fair balance between both genders;
Provide quarterly reports to NIMA manager regarding gender issues in NIMA;
Encourage and assist female students of NIMA in getting jobs after finishing their studies;
Ensure that there is no gender discrimination in both hiring of administrative staff and lecturing faculty;
Develop a gender sensitive environment so that gender equality, is eventually achieved.
Solve day to day problems of female students of NIMA, which include academic related problems, sensitive medical problems, or any other administrative problems arising from the institute,
Perform any other duties assigned by the senior management.
The candidate must have diploma in business administration, Gender Studies, Development Studies or related Social Sciences; the candidate with bachelor degree is preferred;
Demonstrated of two (2) years of experience in planning and delivering gender equality trainings or similar mandates
Computer Knowledge and software applications, such as MS office;
Teamwork: Proven leading and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-agency environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, the knowledge of Dari and Pashto languages is an advantage;
Ability to actively seek and improve services, offer new and different options/initiatives to solve problems/meet client needs, promote and persuade others to consider new ideas.
4. Reporting and Deliverables:
The gender assistant should be in continuous contact with the Gender Officer and will report to him/her in writing as indicated:
a) An inception report: S/he will submit a report that should include work plan for 12 months within four weeks after joining;
b) On a monthly basis: A brief narrative report, outlining the work accomplished in the preceding period, an outline of the work expected to be completed during the next progress reporting period and, if appropriate, comments or recommendations relating to any unforeseen conditions which may affect the progress or the quality of work.
c) The gender assistant will work under direct supervision of Gender Officer;
5. Duration of the Assignment:
The assignment will be initially for 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance at the end of the first 3-months probationary period. After 12 months, subject to a complete performance review, availability of funding; and the circumstances of the Ministry of Education prevailing at that time, an extension to the contract may be considered.
6. Duty Station:
The duty station of this position will be ASDP Office, Deputy Ministry of TVET, Ministry of Education/ Kabul, Afghanistan.
