The Grants Assistant will provide administrative support to the grants program of LGCD.
III. Specific Responsibilities and Duties:
The Grants Assistant will provide administrative support to the grants program of LGCD.
Specific duties will be:
• Perform routine maintenance of grants documents and files, including daily sorting of paperwork, filing, photocopying documents as necessary, and scanning documents for both storage in TAMIS and in the permanent “hard copy†grants files.
• Assist Sr. Grant Officer in the preparation of proposals, by locating necessary project information and documentation from organizations which seek grants or other sources of necessary information.
• Prepare and maintain financial capability records for each grantee to meet USAID requirements as stated in the LGCD Grants Manual section J.2. Provide support to the Sr. Grants Officer with regards to monitoring project budgets and compiling financial data.
• Assist in the processing of invoices for payment, including assuring necessary documentation is attached to invoice, correct identification of documents and copying/scanning documents for inclusion in both hard files and electronic grants files.
• Identify potential grant opportunities, collect relevant information about new opportunities, propose efficient implementation strategies, and design effective monitoring and evaluation procedures.
• Draft grant proposals, in coordination with Sr. Grants Officer and program staff, for clearance by USAID/Afghanistan.
• Systematically monitor the implementation of an assigned portfolio of grants, ensuring that grantees provide regular grant status reports, proposing solutions for problems encountered, and overseeing any significant modification of grant objectives and costs.
• Assist in the preparation and facilitation of official meetings or workshops with grant recipients, community organizations, or service providers associated with grants management activities. Provide oral translation as needed.

V. Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Grants Assistant may be required to travel to the provinces on occasion, security permitting.

Reports to the Sr. Grants Officer;
VII. Base of Operations: LGCD Office :
• 12th class graduated.
• One to three years of progressively responsible professional experience are required. Experience in USAID or other international donor agency sponsored project highly desired.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Pashtu/Dari speaker, with near fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of other languages helpful.
