The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Afghanistan is responsible for implementing a number of projects on behalf of the Government of Afghanistan and the aid donor community. The Afghanistan Operations Centre (AGOC) has been set up as an organizational mechanism to deliver a range of projects for which UNOPS has been designated as the Implementing Agency. The functional objective of UNOPS AGOC is to deliver its projects in an efficient and effective manner, so as to achieve the outcomes sought by the project and to assist in the development goals of the Government of Afghanistan. The stated goal is to provide implementation services to the Government of Afghanistan, the donor community and partner agencies in the reconstruction and development of Afghanistan. The adopted mission of UNOPS is to exceed the expectations of our stakeholders.
Under the general supervision of the Project Support/Admin Associate and in accordance with UNOPS policies and procedures, the Guard/Cleaner is responsible for the following duties:
Duties & Responsibilities:
â€¢ Conduct 100% ID check for personnel and visitors
â€¢ Check outgoing items and ensure that paper release and the documentation (gate pass) is completed
â€¢ Maintain log/occurrence book and ensure that proper entries are made
â€¢ Report any security related information, incident and irregularities through the security guard supervisor
â€¢ Continuous assessment of security
â€¢ Conduct compound and perimeter patrol on regular basis.
â€¢ Check and ensure that the perimeter fence/walls are intact.
â€¢ Report any suspicious persons, vehicles or objects.
â€¢ Check all UNOPS vehicles parked inside the compound at car park. Alternate parking should be arranged for other agency and VIP vehicles without jeopardizing the free movement of UNOPS vehicles.
â€¢ Conduct building patrol after hours and physically check all office doors and ensure that they are securely locked.
â€¢ Report any irregularities and ensure follow up security action is taken.
â€¢ Check and ensure that fire fighting equipments are in place.
â€¢ Ensures that all rooms are cleaned as required
â€¢ Ensures that the office facilities and lavatories are cleaned on a daily basis
â€¢ Collects cleaning materials from the logistics section
â€¢ Looks after the provided garbage bins and ensures that they are closed at all times
â€¢ Assists management with orienting the guest
â€¢ Assists personnel with the movement of personal effects during check-in and check-out
â€¢ Assists on dispatching stationeries from Logistics to different offices
â€¢ Undertake portage tasks as required
â€¢ Maintains a comfortable environment and services to all personnel
â€¢ Other duties as requested by supervisor
The incumbent is responsible to abide by security policies, administrative instructions, plans and procedures of the UN Security Management System and that of UNOPS.

â€¢ Relevant security diplomas desirable

â€¢ Minimum two years relevant experience
â€¢ Security and safety experience
â€¢ Knowledge of hygienic issues

â€¢ Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
â€¢ Computer literate (MS Office and Outlook).
â€¢ Fluent in English (Oral and written) and good command of local languages
â€¢ Capable to work in a multi-national/ cultural environment
