We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated, and interpersonal individual with experience and knowledge in web content management, writing, editing, and managing. The Head of Online will be responsible in developing, maintaining and sustaining TOLOnews’ online presence. In addition to writing, editing, and proofreading this person will work closely with the technical teams to maintain the sites standards. These tasks require a strong attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines.

Duties & Responsibilities:
All editing, writing, proofreading etc MUST be in AP style
Set editorial standards writing, proofreading, and editing hard and soft news as assigned
Ensure all editorial, production, and marketing content is of highest quality
Conduct weekly training with editors and sub-editors to improve quality of work
Monitor news sites and social media for article ideas and announcements
Create, develop, and manage content for TOLOnews’ web presence
Maintain a consistent look and feel throughout all web
Copyedit and proofread ALL WEB CONTENT (i.e. website, facebook, twitter, YouTube, and instagram)
Oversee freelancers, reporters, and translators to ensure content and promotion work are carefully coordinated
Work closely with staff to take advantage of joint content and marketing
Keeping content and format at the leading edge of the field
Job Location:Afghanistan, Kabul
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, Communications or equivalent
5+ years international work experience
Must have knowledge and background in AP style
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment
Strong editorial skills
Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in performing duties
Familiarity with Dari/ Pashto languages will be preferable
Experience in managing creative and technical staff
Must have knowledge in Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and more
