Job Summary

The HVAC Technician is responsible for maintaining the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration equipment and performs services

Duties & Responsibilities

REPORT TO: Facility Maintenance Manager

Performs skilled installation, repair and maintenance
Maintains and repairs various types of mechanical equipment which are appurtenances of the HVAC system, such as feed pumps, vacuum pumps, circulating pumps, air compressors, refrigeration compressors, condensers, evaporators, hot water generators, circulating and ventilating fans, and similar mechanical steam or electrically operated equipment
Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and cleaning of equipment
Conduct electrically checks for power operation on all systems monthly
Verify thermostat and control, check to see if thermostat are set and functioning according to manual
Makes daily preventative maintenance schedule checks and checks operation of each for proper functioning of equipment
Maintains inventory and recommends ordering of stock and materials to supervisor
Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Interpret building codes and regulations as they relate to HVAC.

Properly install refrigerant compressors.

Diagnose problems and make recommendations.

Make estimates of materials required.

Repair and replace damaged parts and equipment.

Read blueprints, floor plans and wiring diagrams.

Read and interpret DOD, OEBGD and EPA regulations.

Work independently in the absence of supervision.

Understand and follow oral and written directions.

Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
