Job Summary:

Implement and supervise an infection control program in a project or health facility, according to MSF protocols, safety, and Infection and Prevention Control measures, to ensure the quality of care and safety of patients, caretakers, and staff.

Duties & Responsibilities:

·      Carry out the functions and tasks associated with his/her specialty whenever required or needed, to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience

·      Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures, and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her specialty

·      Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative, information, and data collection tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome, and support decision-making

·      Give feedback/ reports to the line manager

·      In collaboration with each service activity manager, maintaining and supporting the day to day implementation of the standard precautions in health structures in all departments including sterilization, laundry, and kitchen, and providing technical supervision, training, and support to the staff on IPC related issues using existing tools such as audits, checklist, surveillance

·      Implementing and monitoring adherence to additional precautions for air, droplet, and contact transmissible diseases when indicated. Based on a given patient-diagnosis, evaluating the need and supporting the implementation, if needed, for additional precautions in collaboration with the medical team and act accordingly

·      Implementing as planned, the correct 'clean and dirty flows' inside the health facility. Ensuring that environmental standards in the facility are respected (bed spacing, number of handwashing stations, etc.) and together with the Hospital Facilities Manager and WHS Supervisor, that the essential requirements are available in the health structures

·      Guaranteeing compliance to aseptic care techniques and the correct use of antiseptics, disinfectants, and detergents

·      Checking the consumption and the quality of IPC materials and equipment, including cleaning materials and equipment

·      As member of the Infection Control Committee, participating in and supporting the development and follow up of the Infection Control Action Plan

·      Give regular feedback to the line manager and report directly any issue or incident

·      To ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality, organize and coordinate the activities of the team supervised (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), communicate with the HR Admin department all relevant information in due time, evaluate performance, define and ensure the needs for training

·      Perform hands-on tasks as part of the team whenever required or needed to optimize the resources and to contribute with his/her knowledge and experience

·      Participate in monthly reports according to guidelines

Job Requirement:



·      Nursing diploma essential

·      Proficient user of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) essential

·      IPC -or similar- certificate as an asset


·      Other experience in a similar position essential

·      MSF experience desirable


·       Dari/Pashtu: oral and written essential

·       English: written and oral essential

Working hours: Full Time 40 hours a week: 5 days a week

Salary will be paid according to the MSF salary grid
